Up to €180 Million to Be Invested in Innovative Bulgarian Companies through the JEREMIE Initiative

Up to €180 million will be invested in innovative Bulgarian companies and small and medium-sized enterprises through the European JEREMIE initiative. It is administered by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation, while the funds to be reinvested in Bulgarian businesses will be managed by the European Investment Fund (EIF).

The funding will be directed towards growth funds, technology transfer, Deep Tech, the Three Seas Initiative, as well as companies operating in the defence and dual-use technology sectors.

The new financial resource will provide additional support for the development of Bulgaria’s innovation ecosystem and for the growth of high-potential companies. It also includes €48.4 million in recovered funds from the Operational Programme “SME Initiative.”

This will become possible following the ratification by the Bulgarian National Assembly of the amended agreements between Bulgaria and the European Investment Fund concerning the implementation of the financial instrument.

JEREMIE is one of the most successful financial instruments supporting businesses in Bulgaria. Since its launch in 2009, it has mobilized €349 million in investments in companies, while subsequently more than €200 million was reinvested in new financial instruments.
