The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is preparing a series of resources on artificial intelligence tailored specifically for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The first publication, “Learning Machines: An Introduction to AI and Intellectual Property for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises,” will be officially launched next week during the AI for Good Global Summit 2026, where WIPO and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will jointly host an Intellectual Property Management Clinic for AI entrepreneurs.

The publication provides an introduction to the key issues surrounding artificial intelligence and intellectual property and aims to help SMEs understand, adopt, and make effective use of AI technologies.

In 2027, it will be complemented by a second guide titled “How to Read Licence Agreements for Users of Artificial Intelligence Applications and Services.”
